About the Blurb Book Program:
- In the first session, we will either meet in person or via skype / phone to discuss your project (The topic of your photography project, your audience, the size of the book you are imagining, the need of text as well as any special request).
- At the end of the session, I will propose a few options on how to proceed as well as a time frame in which the book can be made.
- At this point, you will be asked to gather your photos in ordered collections in a Ligthroom catalog that we can share. Help is available for that phase if needed.
- From then on, and depending on the options you choose, I will either be working on the book on my own and checking with you regularly or teaching you how to edit images in a book as I am designing it with you by my side at my Williamsburg studio.
- The length of the process depends on the nature of the book but can take from one week to several months.
- At the end of the process, we will upload your book to Blurb to print and it will be delivered to your door a few days later. If it needs corrections, we will plan a last session together.

Selected Blurb books in the making or delivered in the past months (Images are not displayed so as to respect my client's privacy):
Large landscape layflat – 140 pages – Proline Pearl Paper - Hard Cover
This is the story of the re-birth of the Tribeca neighborhood after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in New York City. It contains hundreds of stunning images taken over many years and organized into 7 chapters. The book opens with four pages of text about the personal experience of the photographer who has been a witness to the re-birth.
Small Square – 28 pages - Proline Uncoated Paper - Soft Cover
This is a small adorable book offered to a young lady on the occasion of her Bat Mitzvah. The book includes photos from different periods of her life as well as shots from a day spent with the photographer (also a friend of the family) in Israel. There is no text in this book.
- The Day I Decided To Go To Poland
Medium Landscape – 92 pages - Premium Matte Paper - Hard Cover
This is story photographed by a woman who lost track of her family history somewhere in Poland during WW2. After having had three children and accompanying them all to adulthood, she decided to take a daring step: Go to Poland. It is a beautiful story of quest and discovery, shot in a documentary style and enriched with a large amount of text, written every other page, in the style of a journal.
About the Art Book Program
- In the first session, we will meet in person at my Williamsburg studio to discuss your project: Topic, Audience, size... and most importantly what you wish in terms of design. Is your book an accordion printed on heavy fine art paper with a hand-made cover or a one-of-a-kind art object in a plexiglass box? You will be able to brainstorm with me and see a few samples.
- After that first session, I will propose one or two options that you can choose from, a plan on how to proceed as well as a time frame in which the book can be made.
- From then on, and depending on the option you choose, I will either be working on the book on my own and checking with you regularly or teaching you how to create a unique hand-made book.
- The length of the process depends on the nature of the book but will typically take from 3 weeks to a couple of months.
- Please note that I offer a few (tested and approved) options as regards to the material: fine art papers, covers, special pens, rubans, brushes, glue... that are all included in the quote. Any special requests will be charged to the client. Thank you for your understanding.

Selected art books in the making or delivered in the past months (Images are not displayed so as to respect my client's privacy):
Accordion – 12 pages - 4 inches high, 30inches long when fully open
This past summer, L. G. bought a house in the country of volcanoes in France. The house had belonged to her great-ant and was filled with old photographs and family objects. Before tearing it down to renovate it, she asked me to design a book to celebrate the soul of the place. I created a tiny accordion book in the shape of a jewelry case featuring 12 images printed on rice paper and fixed with archival glue to fine art paper. The book is presented in a cloth pouch.
Star book – 1 folded print in 5 inches wide box
C. H. asked me to create an art book for his father, a business man nostalgic of the American West and the days when he was a cowboy.
I went on location (Texas) and shot a double exposed strip in Black and White, printed it on Hanemuhle 390g rag paper and folded it into a star shape. It is presented in a small round box.
16 accordeon books in a plexiglass box
This is a story about immigration. About a confrontation. About change and acceptance.
The shoot took a long 3 days walk from the southern tip of Broadway in Manhattan to its extreme North just before crossing to the Bronx.
It is presented as a wall size accordion book divided in 16 geographic areas / chapters and boxed in a plexiglass container wrapped with a hand-made cover.
